Estimate real-world luminance from still images and video frames. Calibrate your camera, draw a region of interest around any shape, and read luminance values for accident reconstruction, visibility analysis, and lighting assessment.

How it works

  1. 1 Build a dataset Load your calibration images, draw regions of interest, and record reference luminances.
  2. 2 Fit a model Fit a linear or exponential calibration model from the dataset you captured.
  3. 3 Estimate luminance Apply the model to new images and read predicted luminance for each region.
  4. 4 Visibility level Compute Adrian visibility levels for targets against a background in the scene.

Why Nitere

  • Capture on the move Estimate luminance from video frames recorded while driving through a scene, with no roadside stops or lane closures.
  • Your camera, your workflow Calibrate the camera setup you already use instead of hauling dedicated luminance-camera hardware into the field.
  • Any shape, any size Measure non-uniform objects by drawing the region you care about, rather than collecting spot-meter readings point by point.

Nitere's method is based on peer-reviewed research published by the creators of this software.
